My body begs to breathe

The stagnant musty air

Up, down, wrapped, plaited

Nothing tames the hair

Heavy blanket gives comfort

Like matches on a flame

Childhood habits battle adult

Nostalgia takes the blame

Beads of sweat soak everything

The blanket must come off

A soggy pillow gripped too tight

Unnatural teddy, I scoff.
